Lib Dem members’ favourite political blogs ranked

by Stephen Tall on August 18, 2013

Lib Dem Voice has polled our members-only forum  to discover what Lib Dem members think of various political issues, the Coalition, and the performance of key party figures. More than 600 party members have responded, and we’re publishing the full results.

Guardian’s CiF tops poll: almost half Lib Dem members read it

LDV asked: Which non-Lib Dem politics blogs (if any) do you read? Please tick all that apply.
Figures compared with last time we asked this question, in September 2012.)

Four points worth noting:

  • There’s not been much change in Lib Dem members’ blog-reading tastes. The dominant market position of the Guardian’s Comment is Free continues, with 44% of Lib Dem members in our survey reading it;
  • Almost four-in-five (78%) Lib Dem members read at least one political blog — that’s the same figure as last September;
  • Group blogs dominate the blogosphere — UK Polling Report, Nick Robinson and Iain Dale are the only one-man-band blogs read by more than one-in-10 of you;
  • Of the 3% who specified ‘Others’ only Indy Voices was mentioned more than once (along with some Lib Dem bloggers). Mea culpa, I should have included it.
  • 1,500 Lib Dem paid-up party members are registered with LibDemVoice.org. Just over 600 responded to the latest survey, which was conducted between 19th and 23rd July.
  • Please note: we make no claims that the survey is fully representative of the Lib Dem membership as a whole. However, LibDemVoice.org’s surveys are the largest independent samples of the views of Lib Dem members across the country, and have in the past offered accurate guides to what party members think.
