My ‘Why I’m standing for election’ profile goes live on Oxford Lib Dems’ website

by Stephen Tall on April 6, 2012

As I mentioned this week, For the first time in 8 years my name will appear on a ballot paper, as I’m standing for election to Oxford City Council.

Which also means my profile appears alongside my fellow Lib Dem candidates for election at OxfordLibDems.org.uk. Here it is:

Headington Hill & Northway: Stephen TALL

I’ve lived in Oxford for 18 years, and had the privilege of representing Headington on Oxford City Council for 8 years. This is a wonderful city to live in – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t problems that need sorting. We all want to live in a cleaner, freer and fairer city – and as your councillor I would work hard and pro-actively with residents to find practical solutions that benefit all citizens in our community. Whether your concern is traffic or planning or the bins or local leisure facilities, together I believe we can improve things.

My passion is education – I work for a charity helping to raise the attainment of pupils from deprived backgrounds – and I am proud the Lib Dems’ pupil premium will benefit more than 3,700 children in Oxford this year. I am also delighted that as a result of the Lib Dems’ actions in government 21 million of the lowest paid workers are receiving a tax-cut worth £546. These are liberal values making a real difference to the lives of those who need a helping hand the most.
