ippr fringe event: The end of politics as we know it?

by Stephen Tall on September 22, 2009

Over the last few days I’ve been uploading the results from Lib Dem Voice’s members’ survey, completed by c.250 party members – you can catch up on the results published to date by clicking here.

The survey was conducted in association with the Institute of Public Policy Research (ippr) in advance of today’s lunchtime fringe, The end of politics as we know it?. Full details here:

Liberal Democrats Conference: The end of politics as we know it?
22 September 2009 –

Dorchester One room, Marriott Highcliff Hotel

How fundamentally have the political and economic crises changed the landscape in which the parties are operating? What opportunities has this created for the Liberal Democrats? What lessons can we learn from the twelve years of New Labour in power? What will happen if the Conservatives win the next election?

Confirmed speakers:

* Baroness Shirley Williams
* Sir Menzies Campbell MP
* Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP
* Stephen Tall, Liberal Democrat Voice
* Carey Oppenheim, ippr

I’ll be reporting back on it later; we may even have a podcast of it …
