Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #50

by Stephen Tall on February 8, 2008

We’ve reached our half-century! Welcome, belatedly (technical problems, dear reader), to the 50th of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (27th January – 2nd Febrary), together with a hand-picked quintet you might otherwise have missed.

Don’t forget reader nominations for places 8-12 in the Golden Dozen are welcome… so if there’s post which appears/ed on the Aggregator this week, and you think it deserves to be included in the next Golden Dozen, drop me a line at stephen@libdemvoice.org. Self-nominations are allowed – but as there are only five slots available, I can’t guarantee inclusion.

Anyway here are the best-read posts this last week, in descending order:

1. Has Nick told Gordon his secret on Jo Anglezarke’s Jo’s Jottings blog.
If we changed our name, wouldn’t Gordon just find another way to get it wrong?

2. MP faces child assault investigation on Chris Keating’s The Diary of Chris K blog.
Eastbourne’s Nigel Waterson finds himself in a spot of bother.

3. Disloyalty to Clegg you say
on Gavin Whenman’s Gavin’s Gaily Gigest blog.
At least the leadership contest never quite descended into this…

4. Liberal Democrat MP falls victim to Labour Brainwashing on Jeremy Hargreaves’ blog.
An intelligent article with intelligent comments… surely this kind of blogging will never catch on?

5. Ming voted for Nick Clegg to be leader on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings blog.
Kind of like Greece and Cyprus in the Eurovision.

6. Spectator on Clegg: The “love-in” continues on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings blog.
A back-handed trbute from the Speccie’s Fraser Nelson, who also posts a comment to Pauls’ blog: great leader (shame about the party).

7. Liverpool Lib Dems hit back at ‘worst financially managed Council‘ tag on Lib Dem Voice.
Calm down, calm down…

And here’s another five well worth imbibing through your reading eyes:

8. Derek Conway – I lodge second complaint to the Parliamentary Commissioner on Duncan Borrowman’s blog.
The power of blogging: Duncan’s posting placed him in the media spotlight after the Tories’ Derek Conway came a cropper.

9. Chris Huhne Targeted by Referendum Campaign
on Jonathan Fryer’s blog.
How Mike Hancock is helping stir it up for fellow Lib Dem MP Chris Huhne.

10. Laurence Boyce: j’accuse on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog! blog
The debate continues…

11. Boris Pledges: I Will Have More Money Than Sense! on Alex Wilcock’s Love and Liberty blog.
Two good reasons to vote for Brian: Ken and Boris. (There are many other positive reasons, too, I should add.)

12. Fantastic insight on the Lib Dem blogs on Andy Strange’s Process Guy blog.
Isn’t there always?

That’s it for this week’s belated round-up. Happy blogging.
